Cost guide

How much does a PFAS water filter cost?

What drives PFAS filter cost: which PFAS and how much, one tap or whole-house, water use, other contaminants, and media changes. Exact price after analysis.

WÜDR doesn't publish price ranges. A range that covers every home is too wide to be useful, and a price for the wrong system is worse than no price. Instead, we look at your water first, recommend the system that fits, and then show you its price.

What drives the price

  1. Which PFAS, and how much. Short-chain compounds like PFBA and PFBS are harder to remove with carbon than PFOA and PFOS, so they shorten media life. Your utility's EPA UCMR 5 results list them by compound[1].
  2. One tap or the whole house. A reverse osmosis system at the kitchen sink covers drinking and cooking water. Whole-house PFAS treatment is a separate, specialized system that we don't currently install[2].
  3. Certification. Look for NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 certification for PFAS reduction; certified devices have been shown to reduce PFAS below 20 ppt[3].
  4. Water use and flow. More gallons means more media, or more frequent changes.
  5. Other contaminants. Chlorine, organics, and sediment compete for carbon and can call for a pre-filter.
  6. Upkeep and retesting. Media or cartridge changes on a schedule set by your numbers, and periodic retests on a well.

Help for New Jersey well owners

If a private well tests above the NJ Spill Fund's financial relief criteria (4 ppt for PFOA and PFOS; 10 ppt for PFNA, PFHxS, and GenX), the Spill Fund may reimburse testing and support the cost of a treatment system[3]. See PFAS water filters in New Jersey.

Common questions

Do I need whole-house PFAS treatment?

Most PFAS exposure is from drinking and cooking water, so we treat it at the kitchen sink with reverse osmosis: the WÜDR Tankless RO 800. Whole-house PFAS treatment is not something we currently install.

Does a pitcher filter remove PFAS?

Some are certified for PFOA and PFOS reduction under NSF/ANSI 53. Check the product's certification listing for the specific compounds and capacity.

Your water first. Then your price.
